Our Mission

The internet started by connecting mainframes, by the end of the 20th century 600m desktop and laptop computers exchanged email and web-traffic. Today around 15 billion ‘things’ are connected to the internet, growing at a rate of a billion per year. Tyk are committed to enabling interconnectivity between systems and between devices. We’ve started by building an API Management platform.

The role:

Tyk is an independent software company that develops software globally. We are pre-IPO and growing at 60% year over year. Tyk develops an API Platform for global companies, mid sized businesses, start-ups. Global HQ is based in London and the Americas HQ is in Atlanta. We are looking for a seasoned sales representative to join a fast growing software startup to help uncover, nurture, and build relationships in install based accounts across North America. The ideal candidate will have a history of success in startup environments with a proven ability to work as part of a team, build something where nothing exists, and instil instant trust and accountability with customer, partner and internal relationships.

  • Represent Tyk commercially in all customer, prospect, and partner facing relationships in the account manager’s territory.
  • Meet and exceed individual quotas.
  • Stay up to date and current with Tyk internal sales tools.
  • Manage new and existing client relationship engagements to drive pipeline, revenue, and customer satisfaction.
  • Set and manage customer/prospect expectations for their experience with the Tyk product portfolio.
  • Manage the customer journey from prospect to paying customer throughout the post sales cycle.
  • Handle ongoing account updates and inquiries from existing clients, drive a high rate of renewal, and upsell new business within existing customer portfolio.
  • Identify case study opportunities with customers.
  • Work with the VP of Sales to develop partnerships and key accounts across North America to help scale Tyk rapidly.

Here’s what you’ll be getting up to:

  • Book onsite meetings, client visits, remote video calls and introduce Tyk to existing customers, by walking them through benefits and a simple demo.
  • Manage existing customers renewals and upsells on new product & support offerings.
  • Be able to qualify sales opportunities and ask high level technical and business related questions in order to qualify and prioritize leads and new opportunities.
  • Maintain up-to-date sales pipeline in CRM when required, generate quotations and invoices.
  • Work closely with consulting engineers and product teams to review leads, resolve technical queries during customers’ evaluation stage.
  • Work closely with the Marketing team to identify and plan events applicable to the business.

Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • Solid experience in direct account and customer management, in Technology Sales.
  • History of handling cold calls, new demos, customer escalations, and all customer communication.
  • Ability to present proposals and articulate core value propositions.
  • Proven track record of quota achievement.
  • Knowledge of the technical stack, including database, middleware, APIs.
  • Solid digital background with understanding and/or at least 5 years hands on experience in software development or related technical fields.
  • Proven track record of managing all aspects of a successful account through initial engagement, proposal, delivery and renewal.
  • Experience managing cross functional global technology teams.
  • Experience managing large, complex global accounts.
